| Near-Real Time Surface Ocean Velocity, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, 2km Resolution, 2025-present | Surface ocean velocities estimated from High Frequency (HF)-Radar are representative of the upper 1.0 meters of the ocean. The main objective of near-real time processing is to produce the best product from available data at the time of processing. Radial velocity measurements are obtained from individual radar sites through the U.S. HF-Radar Network. | SWAN model simulation (1 km) for Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands, 2023-present | Model output from the CARICOOS Nearshore Wave Model, a state of the art wave forecast system based on the Simulating Waves Nearshore (Simulating WAves Nearshore model (SWAN)) spectral wave model. Model is run twice daily on CARICOOS HPC facilites. Only the regional PR-USVI grid is included in this product, however, high-resolution subgrid output is available upon request. Starting with Version 2 in 2012 the model output collection has progressed through several model versions. The latest version, SWAN Version 8, came online on November 30, 2018.
